As we all slowly, but surely, start getting back to “normal” (thankfully!), you’ll start noticing changes in some ACC policies at the Civic Building and Community Center. One of those changes is the return of members needing to swipe their card as they enter the Community Center.
There are a few reasons why it’s important to swipe membership cards when you use the Community Center:
- In case of emergency.
In the rare case of an emergency, having an accurate count of who is in the building is incredibly important, especially if the facility should need to be evacuated. This way, we can help assist first responders to the best of our abilities.
- Help us help you.
This allows us to make sure all members have a current and up-to-date membership. Issues with membership could hinder someone from enrolling in future classes and programs. If a member swipes their card and there is an issue, staff can help resolve the issue quickly.
If you’ve misplaced your card, just speak with the front desk and they can get you a replacement card at no cost. A photo is also required with all memberships, so if you need a new or updated photo we can take care of that in just a few minutes.
As a reminder, while the limited occupancy has been lifted (Ducey Executive Order effective March 5, 2021), mask wearing and distancing measures remain in place. The Maricopa County and AzDHS mask-wearing guidelines remain in place in all ACC facilities. We appreciate your ongoing cooperation and patience.
We are so excited for what should be a fun spring and summer at the Community Center. Thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding over the past year, and we look forward to seeing you soon on the fitness floor, in the gym, or at the water park (opening Memorial Day weekend).
