Cadets surround the AVM during Veterans DayThe Sandra Day O’Connor High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) earned an overall rating of “Exceeds Standards” during their recent Unit Evaluation. This is the highest rating available. Achieving a rating of Exceeds Standards is no small feat, it takes team effort and a lot of hard work. Both of these attributes were evident during the assessment, which impressed the evaluator, who pointed out the dedication and commitment of the instructors, as well as the professionalism and dedication to service displayed by the cadet corps.

The Sandra Day O’Connor program is the definition of the term “successful unit” and is recognized as an established benchmark for others to follow. Congratulations to Lieutenant Colonel John C. Simmons, Master Sergeant John M. Badey, and the AFJROTC cadets from Sandra Day O’Connor High School.

The AFJROTC have played an important role during ceremonies for the Anthem Veterans Memorial (AVM). Lt. Col. Simmons recently served as Master of Ceremonies for the fifth anniversary of the AVM, and will serve again for Memorial Day, while cadets from the unit surround the Memorial holding American flags. Their efforts have certainly been a vital part of making AVM events successful.
