Sections of north- and southbound Interstate 17 between New River and Bumble Bee will have lane closures overnight for rubberized-asphalt paving during the next several weeks. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to watch for construction personnel and equipment and allow extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place:
- Two miles of northbound I-17 near Bumble Bee (mile posts 250-252) will be narrowed to one lane from 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, to 7 a.m. Thursday, July 13, and from 6 p.m. Thursday, July 13, to 7 a.m. Friday, July 14.
- Beginning Wednesday, July 12, and continuing through mid-August, plan for alternating overnight lane closures on north- and southbound I-17 from New River Road to north of Coldwater Road (mileposts 232-245). Closures are scheduled to occur from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings until August 11.
This rubberized-asphalt paving is being done as part of the $10.8 million improvement project on I-17 between New River and Sunset Point. The project is scheduled for completion this summer. Learn more on the project website.
