Per Maricopa County health code regulations, following any fecal incident in the water, the facility must be closed for cleaning to prevent spread of disease. The closures may last from 45 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the severity of the incident. Inclement weather may also cause closures or delay in opening. Closures will be announced with a notification on this website.
Arizona weather can cause its share of challenges. The Community Center staff uses state-of-the-art technology, a device known as Skyscan, to track storms in the area and make decisions regarding closing the aquatics park facilities. Learn more about what factors into these decisions.
Aquatics Park Rules
Life Jackets: Children are allowed to wear only Coast Guard-approved life jackets. Even if the child is in a life jacket, parents must remain with arm’s reach. If a child is incapable of swimming a sustained 25 meters (half the width of the pool), the parent must be within 10 feet. Floatation swimsuits, armbands, inner tubes and other such items are not allowed.
Cooler Checks: Coolers are allowed at the aquatics park, but they must be brought in through the main gate turnstile at the Community Center entrance. No coolers are permitted through the side gate entry point. Staff will check all coolers upon entrance for glass containers and alcoholic beverages, both of which are prohibited. If any of these items are found, they will be disposed of immediately.
Designated Eating Areas: For health and safety reasons, as well as to ensure cleanliness, two designated eating areas have been established. These areas are adjacent to and to the west of Big Splash Water Park and the Lap Pool. All food, including snacks and drinks, must be contained in these areas. Water is permitted throughout all outdoor areas.
No smoking: This includes but is not limited to: cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, pipes and chewing tobacco.
Breaks every hour: A ten-minute break will occur every hour at the aquatics facility, to allow lifeguards a break and to encourage residents and guests to rehydrate and use the restrooms. These breaks are mandatory, and pool users must exit the water during these times.
